- Registrant
The registrant is the person who mandates the registrar to register a certain SLD for him. Hereby the registrant is the domain-holder and gets a temporary authorisation to use this SLD in a designated scope of application.
- Registrar
- The registrar is authorised to setup and change second level domains (SLDs). Normally an order, from somebody interested to purchase the SLD, forms the basis of this process.
- Registry
- The registry is an institution who is concerned with the TLD-administration. The registry provides all the services neccessary for the registration, assignment and the operation of TLDs. According to these tasks the registry stores no data about domain-holders, they only hold data about domain name servers and the appropriate registrars.
- Release
- Publication of an extensively testet software product that has passed the quality control.
